  • Deep in one of the poorest neighbourhoods of Havana, you will find Rumba Morena. Whilst it's not unusual to hear the sound of Rumba drifting from alleys and venues in Havana, Rumba Morena is different - they are all women.

Daghwah

  • During my frequent visits to the region for photography and filmmaking, drawn by Fujairah's rugged mountainous terrain, I always made a pit stop in Kalba. Here, I encountered a curious sight: weathered pickup trucks scattered along the beach, their purpose shrouded in mystery. Despite their worn appearance, they seemed integral to the coastal landscape, bearing the marks of years spent battling the elements.

Biography

Moe Najati is a writer-director crafting captivating narratives that transcend borders. Born and raised in the UAE with Syrian and Lebanese heritage, Moe Najati moved to London where his films became known for their emotional depth and vivid imagery. Moe's films have been showcased at prestigious Academy, BAFTA, and BIFA qualifying festivals, earning numerous awards. His latest short, Ensouled, was nominated for Best Short Sci-Fi at the 2023 FilmQuest and featured at other notable festivals. Uproar, his acclaimed short documentary exploring Havana's Rumba scene, screened at Sheffield Doc/Fest in 2020.

While devoted to independent cinema, Moe's creative vision has also been sought by renowned brands such as Cadillac, Alfa Romeo, Red Bull, Canon, and Lenovo.

Moe is in development of two feature films, driven by his passion for bringing compelling stories to the big screen.
